TAX COLLECTOR’S LEGAL NOTICE
January is Tax Month
Notice is hereby given to the Taxpayers of the Town of Old Lyme that the second installment of a tax of 16.23 mills on the dollar on the grand list of October 1, 2024 is due on January 1, 2026. Supplemental Motor Vehicle Bills, mailed in December 2025, also are due at that time.
Payments must be made by or before Monday, February 2, 2026 or postmarked by then to avoid interest penalty of one-and-one-half percent (1-1/2%) per month or 18% per year. Minimum interest charge is $2.00. Interest charge on February payments after Feb. 2 is 3 percent. These interest rates, dates and charges have been set by Connecticut state statute, CGS 12-146.
FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT INVALIDATE THE TAX OR WAIVE INTEREST DUE PER STATE STATUTE should the bill become delinquent. CGS 12-130.
We do not mail a December reminder of 2nd installments due. Tax bills and payment coupons were mailed in June 2025 (escrowed mortgage bills were sent to the bank or escrow firm) and can be printed from our website. To see balances due and to make online payments, please go to www.oldlyme-ct.gov, go to Tax Collector department, click on the gold Pay Taxes Online tab. You will be directed to www.mytaxbill.org to submit payment; service fees are 2.5% for credit card or 1.0% for debit card, minimum charge of $2.00 for credit or debit card. ACH or e-checks are 95 cents per check.
You also may pay in person at the Tax Office, Old Lyme Memorial Town Hall, 52 Lyme St., weekdays 9 am to 4 pm (Town Hall is closed January 1 and Monday, January 19), drop off your payment in the Town Hall front entrance drop box, or mail to Old Lyme Tax Collector’s Office, 52 Lyme St, Old Lyme, CT 06371. Old Lyme Town Hall no longer has a P.O. Box.
If you mail your payment to the old P.O. Box, Old Lyme Post Office will return it to you.
If this occurs, we cannot waive the late payment interest charges. We accept cash in our office, please bring exact change. Partial payment is always accepted.
For tax questions, please see Old Lyme Tax Collector or call us at 860 434-1605, ext. 216 or 217. Please contact Old Lyme Assessor, ext. 219, for questions pertaining to the assessments and exemptions.
