Lake Rules & Regulations

  • Permit required from CT DEEP for all fishing tournaments and derbies.
  • Maximum engine horsepower of 135 HP for boats and personal watercraft.
  • Boat Speed Limit: 6 MPH maximum from sunset to 10 am
  • Boat speeds above 6 MPH to be at least 100 feet from shore, raft or another vessel.
  • Personal watercraft use allowed from 10 am to 6 pm. Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 7 pm. Saturday and Sunday.
  • No person shall operate a personal watercraft at a speed in excess of Slow-No-Wake within two hundred feet of shore, or of a dock, pier, float or anchored or moored vessel, unless said personal watercraft is approaching such float, dock or shore for the purpose of enabling a person engaged in waterskiing to take off or land.
  • Personal watercraft not to exceed 6 MPH between Picnic Island and the western shore.
  • All boat traffic to be counterclockwise around the Lake.
  • Boat traffic to proceed in southerly direction only on west side of Picnic Island
  • Keep Blueberry and Whale Island to portside when traveling north.
  • Use caution when traveling southwesterly between Picnic and Whale Islands.
  • Motor powered craft prohibited in cove at northwest end of lake.
  • No wake in boat launch channel or Hains Park cove.
  • Maximum of two skiers or towable devices per boat.
  • No parasails allowed.
  • No boats propelled by airplane propeller, fan, or ducted fan.
  • Marine heads are prohibited.
