This week the Board of Selectmen had the opportunity to hear a draft presentation of the Old Lyme Sound View and Area B Sewer Project. Chairman of the Water Pollution and Control Authority, Steve Cinami, shared a slide deck with pertinent information, especially updated costs to homeowners. Public comment was offered at the beginning of the meeting, and the Board of Selectmen amended the agenda to include a second opportunity after the presentation for residents to provide Mr. Cinami and the Board of Selectmen with other questions that they felt needed to be answered. I went through the transcript of the minutes and sent the questions to Steve. He has provided answers, and they are posted on the WPCA webpage.
There will be an informational presentation regarding the Sound View and Area B Sewer Project on August 26th at Lyme-Old Lyme High School in the Auditorium at 6:30PM. Steve Cinami will share his updated presentation at that time. Residents of Old Lyme should attend this presentation, as a future referendum will be required in order to request additional funds to bond for this project.
During the upcoming week the Old Lyme Visiting Nurse Association Executive Board will be holding their final interviews for a town nurse. As you may remember, Yale New Haven Health had contracted with the OLVNA for many years to provide the services of a town nurse. In February, YNHH contacted the OLVNA and told them that these services would no longer be provided. After much discussion, the Town and the OLVNA decided to partner together to continue to provide these services. Our Human Resource Director, Jill Karrenberg, has worked with the Executive Board to develop a job description and advertise for the position. It is our expectation that the position will be filled soon, and the new hire will begin in September.

Don and Winnie do an excellent job hiring and training the camp counselors and lifeguards for the summer season. We are fortunate to have such dedicated professionals on our staff.
