This week I had the opportunity to meet with the Harbor Management Commission and Members of the Connecticut Port Authority to discuss the two grants that the commission secured for the Town of Old Lyme. Co-Chairs Teri Lewis, Michael Presti and Harbormaster Matthew Lynch, Finance Director Anita Mancini and I met with Connecticut Port Authority representatives Fayola Haynes and Melissa Root to review the projects. The Harbor Management team provided an update on the status of each project and their expected target dates. Our town beaches were included in an article in the CT Insider earlier this week. The article stated that White Sand Beach has beach mats to provide access for people with disabilities, walkers, and elderly visitors. It also has a handicapped parking spot close to the bath house and beach mat. The article also mentions Sound View Beach as ADA compliant; with handicap access, and a beach mat. During the past year an invasive species, Hydrilla, has been spotlighted in the news. RiverCOG sent us CT DEEP’s press release yesterday. This will provide you with more information that you might find helpful. RiverCOG also has additional information on their website.
