This week we have much to be thankful for: - On Monday, Sarah Maltz and her co-workers from the York Correctional Institution stopped by our Animal Control building with a generous donation of items for our furry friends. Animal Control Officer Lynn Philemon told me that some of the York workers have previously adopted animals from our shelter and wanted a chance to give back to our community after their positive adoption experience.
- The Lyme Old Lyme Food Share Garden received the 2024 Community Inclusion and Spirit Award. This was presented at the United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern Connecticut’s annual meeting. The award is given to individuals, businesses, and volunteers who have made a significant impact on advancing inclusion for people with disabilities within our community.
The Town of Old Lyme is thankful to both organizations and appreciates the recognition for all the positive things happening in our community. A few quick items to be aware of: - Town Hall and the Transfer Station are closed on Thursday and Friday.
- There is no trash or recycling pickup on Thursday. CWPM will be picking up on Friday and Saturday to complete their weekly runs.
- The water will be turned off and winterized soon at our seasonal facilities. This includes Cross Lane Park, Hains Park and Town Woods Park. White Sand Beach has already been closed. The facilities will reopen in the spring of 2025.
In closing, I just want to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your holiday is filled with family, good friends, love, and laughter. We have much to be grateful for in Old Lyme. All my best, Martha
