We sometimes complain when we have a rainy day, but yesterday’s raindrops were greatly appreciated. You may have noticed that the electronic billboards are no longer flashing alongside of the road regarding NO opening burning. However, Fire Marshall Dave Roberge would like to remind everyone that the “red flag warning” will most likely be put back into effect within the next few days. The Board of Selectmen met on Monday. We appreciated the time that Planning Commission Chair Harold Thompson took to provide an update to the selectmen. Harold has served on the Planning Commission for over 24 years. Thank you for your continued service, Harold. Resident Diana Prince also presented a new program, “Community Heart and Soul,” to be considered by the Board of Selectmen. This will be further discussed at one of our December meetings. I had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Lyme - Old Lyme Middle School greenhouse on Tuesday afternoon. Lyme Old Lyme Food Share Garden (LOLFSG) President Jim Ward and the LOLFSG volunteers along, with the Middle School Eco-Warriors, celebrated the refurbished greenhouse and their partnership. They are looking forward to starting their seedlings in the new space. This project was funded with a $4,000 Sustainable CT matching grant, a grant from the Region 18 Schools, and donations. Our Social Services department has updated their website page to include helpful holiday resources for those in need, as well as information for donating. Our Tax Office will be closed next week. Any payments or questions can be directed to the Assessor’s Office or First Selectmen’s Office. Enjoy the weekend ahead. All my best, Martha
