Happy Friday to all! I hope you enjoyed seeing the snow fall on Tuesday. It was a gentle reminder that winter is still within our midst. The Public Works Department wanted me to thank those of you who adhered to the parking ban on Lyme Street. Public Works Director, Ed Adanti told me it is such a huge help to his crew when Lyme Street has no obstructions. Town Hall has received many messages regarding the excellent job the Public Works crew did during the storm. It was a long day for the team. We all appreciate how hard they work to keep our town moving.

All residents should be aware that you may have visitors at your door. We have provided a permit to David Roffman from Trinity Solar to work in town from February 15, 2024 to March 26, 2024 . Many times, when vendors come to doors, Town Hall receives phone calls asking if we know these vendors are in town. We will do our best to keep you informed.

Melinda Kronfeld, our Tax Assessor, has reminded me that Municipal Valuations Services, LLC (Munival) of Fairfield, CT has been hired by the Town of Old Lyme to assist with this year’s revaluation. This revaluation process will take place from February 2024 through Oct. 31, 2024.

During the past two weeks many of our new board, commission and committee members have begun their terms. I am so appreciative of the 240+ volunteers who serve our town. I was happy to meet with some of the members of the Flood and Erosion Control Board last evening as they began to map out their agenda for the next year. Although the Board of Selectmen have made over 70 appointments in the past four weeks, there are still a few vacancies left. If you are interested in serving on any of these Boards, Commissions or Committees, please send in an application.

  • Affordable Housing Commission - 1 Alternate position
  • Board of Assessment Appeals - 2 Alternate positions
  • Flood and Erosion Control Board - 1 Alternate position
  • Halls Road Improvement Committee - 1 Regular positions
  • Old Lyme Cable Advisory Council - 2 Regular positions

The Ethics Commission also has positions available. This commission self-appoints their members. If you are interested in serving, please reach out via EthicsCommission@oldlyme-ct.gov. You cannot serve on another board, commission or committee if you wish to serve on the Ethics Commission.

Town Hall will be closed on Monday, February 19th in observance of President's Day. The Board of Selectmen will be meeting on February 20th at 9am. This is our second meeting of the month. Halls Road Improvements Committee is having a Lunch & Learn on Monday, February 26th at 11am in the Meeting Hall.

All my best,
Martha
