Happy Groundhog Day - looks like spring is on the way.

This past Monday was quite a busy day for me. I drove to Stamford in the morning to attend a discussion with state and regional leaders and the Northeast Corridor Commission regarding the future of rail in Connecticut. That evening the Board of Selectmen held their final Budget Review Working Meeting with our Finance Director, Anita Mancini, and members of the Board of Finance. This was a working session with the Selectmen, Board of Finance observers, various town departments, volunteer chairs and local non-profits to review the first draft of their budgets.

Next week I will be attending the Connecticut Council of Small Towns annual meeting. This event includes presentations and panel discussions on the top issues facing Connecticut's municipalities. I look forward to sharing what I learn. We have a Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, and we will be trying out the Town's Teams set-up for remote attendees. The Board of Finance also begins the budget review at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

Our Parks and Recreation department has open registration for adult basketball. A Women’s League will be held on Tuesdays starting on February 6 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the LOLHS gymnasium. Free for residents! $25 for non-residents. Open to all abilities. Register online.

The Police Department is looking to hire Public Safety Rangers for the upcoming summer season. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Application information will be forthcoming.

Have a lovely weekend.

All my best,
Martha
