from the desk of Martha Shoemaker

As many of you know, during this week's storm the Town of Old Lyme experienced flooding in various areas, power outages, as well as damage to the "the crib" (storm water discharge area) at Hawks Nest / Miami Beach. The First Selectman's office has been in contact with Docko, Inc. (marine engineers) and Machnik Bros., Inc. for suggestions on how to move forward. It is my intention to meet with representatives from all invested parties within the next two weeks.

I'd like to send a huge shout out to Emergency Management Director, Dave Roberge, Director of Public Works, Ed Adanti and the Public Works crew for their outstanding effort in clearing storm debris and their attention to public safety.

Eversource will continue their selective tree trimming (along designated roads) through the end of the year. Please be mindful as you drive by their work crews.

Please remember if you are interested in joining a board or commission, applications are due December 27th.

Jim, Jude and I along with the Town staff, wish everyone a happy and joyous Holiday Season and safe travels.

 All the Best,

First Selectwoman Martha Shoemaker
