First Selectman's Newsletter
As I sit here on this crisp fall day and write my last e-newsletter, I am excited for the changes ahead, for both me and the Town. I have enjoyed my time as First Selectman and I am proud of the many good things that have been accomplished; thanks to the work of many. Old Lyme has a rich history of people volunteering their time and expertise for the benefit of good causes. I thank those that are or have been members of a Board, Commission, Committee or involved in a Town project. I also thank the Town employees for their consistent superior performance over the years. It has been a joy to work with all of them. And lastly, I thank you for letting me serve you and this Town I love.
Holiday Closing Schedule
The Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 23th and Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Transfer Station will also be closed on these days, and back open on Saturday 8:30am-4pm. CWPM will not pick-up trash or recycling on Thursday, however, Thursday's scheduled pick-up will be picked up on Friday, and Friday's pick-ups will be picked up on Saturday.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Donations of non-perishable food are needed. LYSB volunteers, our Old Lyme Police Officers and our Resident State Trooper will be collecting items this Saturday, November 18, from 10am to 2pm in the Old Lyme Market Place. All food donated will be distributed to local families in need. See the list of suggested items.
Hains Park Boathouse
The entryway to the Hains Park Boathouse has been regraded, extended and repaved. The purpose of the project was to help mitigate water runoff problems from Boston Post Road.
Regional School District 18 - Bus Drivers Needed
Region 18 is looking for licensed school bus drivers for Lyme-Old Lyme Schools. Training can be provided if you are not fully licensed, and you will receive a $1,000 signing bonus if you are fully licensed. Details can be found here. MJ Bus Company has also planned a meet and greet at their terminal for early next year.
Lymes' Senior Center Activities
This Sunday, November 19 at 2:00-3:30pm the Musical Masterworks’ Ensemble-in-Residence, Decoda, an affiliate of Carnegie Hall, will perform at Saint Ann’s Church. No reservation required; open to all; drop in and enjoy the wonderful performance! To see a full list of their activities visit their website page.
New Facilities Manger
A warm welcome to Erik Olsen, the Town's new Facilities Manager. Erik is a licensed home improvement contractor, so he is well acquainted with most aspects of the job.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
Tim Griswold, First Selectman
