With an eye on the weekend's forecast, I encourage you to take a moment to go to our Emergency Management website page and sign up for our Emergency Management Notification System in the event we must switch to the rain date. 

Saturday Night Fireworks - August 12

The fireworks (which were rescheduled from the original Midsummer Festival date) will be this Saturday evening, August 12th.  The Old Lyme Town Band will start playing at 7:30pm on behind Center School and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9pm. A shuttle bus will run, starting at 7pm, from the Old Lyme Marketplace parking lot (by The Bowerbird) to the Middle School driveway, and back shortly after the conclusion of the fireworks. Their last run will be at 10:15pm from the school campus. Rain date: Sunday, August 13th.

Parks & Recreation News

We have an exciting announcement from the Parks and Recreation Department. The courts at Cross Lane Park will soon be refurbished. Work is expected to start by August 21st, or possibly a bit sooner.  The two current basketball courts and two of the current Tennis courts will be reconstructed.  The third tennis court area will be made in to four pickleball courts.  Additional details and updates will be provided along the way.

Tax Office News

The Tax Office has been busy processing your tax payments using new updated equipment that was installed in June. This has made operations more efficient. There may have been some delays in checks clearing, due to banks updating their systems. As always, payments received or postmarked by August 1st do not incur an interest penalty. The Tax Office page has a new feature for you to track your tax payment, click on the Check Payment Status button.

Thursday Night Summer Concert

Sound View Concert Series - the last summer concert will be August 24th 7-8:30pm. Enjoy the sea breeze and great music by the flag pole on Hartford Ave!

Shoreline Gateway Committee

The Shoreline Gateway Committee will present the results of their Shoreline Gateway survey at the next Board of Selectman's meeting on Tuesday, September 5th at 5:30pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room. Please come to hear their results and plans for moving forward.
