[ARCHIVED] FEMA Outreach Meeting for Public regarding Erosion Mapping

FEMA Costal Erosion Hazard Map

FEMA Region I has elected to initiate a coastal erosion hazard area study for New London County. To help identify the risk to communities, FEMA has created coastal erosion hazard areas displaying projected hazards for 2030 (yellow), 2050 (orange/red), and 2100 (purple), incorporating projected sea level rise. FEMA Region I would now like to share those same results with members of the community at large.

Details for the meeting time and registration link follow:

Date: March 21, 2024

Time: 6:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Location: Virtual, Registration is required

The colors on the map represent where FEMA believes there is a high risk of erosion by the dates specified. For any individual house, this may or may not be a problem. People should expect that there will be scouring and loss of sand/soil in these areas. It is not a guaranteed forecast, just a generalize prediction. As such, it is not being used for flood insurance purposes.
