Overview
The initial Ethics Commission was appointed by unanimous vote of the Ethics Formation Committee, required by the Code of Ethics to "conduct an open solicitation of community-minded individuals and create a pool of candidates based upon their citizenship, political affiliations if any, and business, professional and personal history."
Subsequently, Ethics Commission members are appointed by a two-thirds vote of the current Ethics Commission. Members can be removed only by a two-thirds vote of the current Ethics Commission or unanimous vote of the Board of Selectmen.
The Ethics Commission has the authority to evaluate, investigate and/or hear written complaints concerning allegations of violations of [the ethics Code.] The complaint must be made on a form prescribed by the Ethics Commission. Contact the Town Clerk's office for additional information about the Ethics Commission.
